Lockyer remarked, “Seeing how he has responded to it has been so inspiring.” “What he can do for others—his family and other individuals who have the same condition—is what matters. It’s not about him.” The two have asked people to get tickets for the Long Long Lunch, the charity’s primary fundraiser, which is scheduled for October 27 in Brisbane and offers a chance to meet Australians with motor neuron disease (MND) and rugby league luminaries. “I believe that The Long Long Lunch overwhelms him, but he’s not doing it to get people to come to lunch; he’s trying to change other people’s lives,” Lockyer said.
