The mass production techniques that have filtered into poster production have certainly improved the speed and quantity in which posters reach the market. But their impact on the final visual effect is quite negative. Stencils and hand painted designs achieved the level of quality and originality that posters were able to achieve before mass production techniques took control. And mass production poster artists soon discovered that adding in another layer of printing wasn’t really improving things.
