Students Explore Opportunities in Washington D.C. Through Wildcats in the Capitol Program
LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 24, 2024) – A group of University of Kentucky students had the opportunity to explore career opportunities and network with professionals in Washington, D.C., through the Wildcats in the Capitol program. The program, which is sponsored by the UK Alumni Association and the Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities, provides students with the chance to gain firsthand experience in the nation’s capital.
During the week-long program, students participated in a variety of activities, including:
- Interning with members of Congress and congressional staff
- Attending briefings on current policy issues
- Meeting with alumni working in Washington, D.C.
- Participating in networking events
Students also had the opportunity to visit historical landmarks and museums, such as the Capitol Building, the White House, and the Smithsonian Institution.
The Wildcats in the Capitol program is a valuable opportunity for students to learn about the inner workings of government and to make connections with professionals in their field. The program also helps students to develop their leadership and communication skills.
